One app to rule them all

One item I don’t write enough about is technology. Speaking as someone who has grown up side by side with technology, I have always made it a personal goal to stay current with devices and services available. It would always amaze me how much I could use technology to enhance my life. Of course there are people who let technology control their life but it can definitely be a game changer.

I am writing this article to tell you about an app/service that has continually made my life easier and that is Reddit.

If you are unfamiliar with Reddit it is a place where you can search for just about anything that people talk about and join in on the conversation. Using Reddit as a browser for new things is cool but I use Reddit differently. There are three ways I use Reddit.

A place to ask questions regarding my home. A place to find great watches at a ridiculous price. A place to browse for new ideas.

Reddit allows you to add your own custom feed of information based on the threads you add. Each thread starts with r/. Here are some of my favorite threads!

r/Watchexchange:

This is my favorite thread on Reddit, for the simple reason that you can find some of the top brands in watches often for a fraction of the cost of a new watch. I have used the page twice to get a watch I have been after and both times it worked out great! Usually you have to have a PayPal account but all the people on the thread are super kind and love everything watches.

r/Watches:

This one goes hand in hand with the thread above. I use this thread to discover new and old watches and to learn more information about them. I also love to share the new watches I add to my collection and participate in the threads!

r/Lancaster:

We are Gents of Lancaster right? This is a nice thread about our community. This is a place to find out more information about the goings on in Lancaster. Here you can find detailed reviews of restaurants, businesses and general posts.

r/wicked_edge:

This thread is all about…. you guessed it, shaving! Head on over to this thread to see reviews of brushes, soaps, razors etc. There are so many different products out there it can be hard to sift through them all to find some quality items. This thread really helps to find the perfect setup!

r/Wetshaving:

This is where you can see people share their SOTD, or shave of the day. I am a big fan of this because you can see people who have mastered the art of shaving and you can hone your own skills by watching others who are very good at it!

r/beards:

Ever since I decided to grow a beard, I needed to find some motivation that I was on the right track. This is basically a support group for guys trying to grow a beard!

r/DIY:

This is a great thread for learning how to do it yourself, from building new furniture to fixing just about anything. I often use this to create new things for our home.

r/homeimprovement:

My last thread recommendation is all about home improvement. As a relatively new homeowner I have questions all the time about what I can do when a home situation arises. I can’t tell you how often this thread has saved me when something goes wrong. Most of the responders on this thread are experienced handymen or women who know exactly how to fix things around the house.

The coolest thing about Reddit is that you can build your own feed of things you want to know about. If you don’t already have an account with Reddit I highly suggest you go check it out!
