Deadhold-BDC MOA Reticle

  • The customized design of this reticle helps eliminate guesswork on hold-over and windage corrections. Good for hunting and shooting at varying ranges where estimating hold-over is a concern.
  • Second focal plane (SFP) reticles are located near the scope’s eyepiece behind the image erecting and magnifying lenses. This style of reticle does not visually change in size when you change the magnification. The advantage of an SFP reticle is that it always maintains the same appearance.

For the under $200 scopes these are the best of the best. Much brighter, clearer than other scopes in this price range. I was a Nikon fan. The eye relief is what it says it is in the specs. It is totally usable at max power level. Speaking only for myself, the focusability for older folks who have trouble seeing past the end of the barrel is excellent. 12X gets me dime size groups at 100 yards.

Installed the scope on a Savage 17HMR and then tried it out. The scope has great eye relief and the turrets are easy to turn by hand. However they don't make the normal clicking sound you get with other scopes. The glass is clear and the reticle is BDC which is great. But I do not feel the glass is as good as quality as you get with a Nikon or a Burris which are both within the same price range. Vortex has the best warranty if you were to drop it out of a tree and it broke they would fix or replace it with no questions asked. All in all at the price of this scope it will make a great choice for any hunter who hunts under 300 yards.
